SelaciaOur Wild Weather

Weather patterns across the world are in flux. NASA climatologists have one explanation and they call it "La Nada."

In earlier times, we've heard a lot about the extremes of El Nino and its worldwide impact on our climate and weather. The image with this post shows the impact of these weather systems.

Scientists previously blamed El Nino for all sorts of bad weather - from killer tornadoes and devastating floods to record snowfall. According to NASA, though, last January the typical pattern subsided and all we had was La Nada to constrain the net stream. The result was the wild weather so many places have experienced.

NASA says each two-to-seven years surface waters across the equatorial Pacific warm up (El Nino) and then cool down (La Nina). No one knows what will happen next - but we do know that we live during a fast-moving cycle of Earth changes. More on this and how you can effectively respond in my new book, Your Guide to Earth's Pivotal Years!
