SelaciaTips for Stress-Free Fun

You may remember times as a child when there was a birthday, a holiday, or some other occasion - and all the fun you had. Back then, you were not in charge of the details, so all you had to do was show up and have fun. Remember that?

As a child, too, you didn't need any special day to move into your playful self - that came naturally. No effort was needed, no plans needed to be made. You didn't worry about how things came together - no stress was involved.

If you are like most people, there was plenty of stress in your household, on both special days and ordinary ones. Observing your parents in stress-mode, you learned from their behavior. In fact, you developed belief systems about life that are still in your DNA today. That's why as an adult, you may associate your childhood special days with both joyful experiences and sad ones. You may have learned to expect stress, to anticipate problems, and to associate disappointment with special days and life in general.

What you learned in the past will become a part of your approach to life. Your past conditioning influences your responses to life today. This conditioning includes your childhood experiences and what you learned from your parents and other caretakers. Example: you may have observed your parents arguing on birthdays, stressing over special holidays, or blaming each other when things didn't go as planned. You mind took in these experiences like a sponge. Your parents may have been loving one minute and then mean the next - you didn't know what to expect.

With conditioning like this, you could have plenty of stress today - special day or normal day. After all, you live during an unprecedented time of crisis on the Earth, and it impacts you and everyone you love. Your personal transformation to heal early dysfunctional conditioning is likely under way, but you can't wave a magic wand and be free of the past overnight. How can you enjoy your life today, then, and reduce the stress response you learned?

5 Tips for Stress-Free Fun

First, remind yourself that each moment is brand new and you can create something different each time. No day needs to be a carbon copy of the last. You are in charge of creating what you want. You are in charge of your own mind. You can choose to enjoy yourself regardless of life's details and regardless of what other people are doing or feeling.

Second, let go of expectations. To have expectations is a proven recipe for stress. How can you have fun if you are living a rigid script that must play out in every last detail? Investigate the labels you have given to special days - these labels add to your expectations. After all, a holiday is just a holiday. You decide its meaning.

Third, relax and be in the moment. That's where the fun is. You can't access your joy in the present if you are harboring resentments about the past or fantasizing about the future.

Fourth, decide that your present won't be ruled by what came before. If you learned to associate fun times with negativity, make an effort to address DNA-level patterns that can keep you in a loop of pain. The conditioning of your past happened, but its effects can be changed by working with your DNA.

Fifth, remember that joy is wired in your DNA. Joy is a part of your essence, regardless of whether you consciously connect with it. No one can take it away - it is a natural part of you. Invite this joy to come into expression in your life.
