SelaciaA New Look at Climate

No matter where you live there likely is a spot nearby with changing weather patterns. You will feel more empowered when you understand the history of what is happening and how it may impact you.

Here's some background. Earth changes will be in the headlines for decades to come - impacting everything from the weather, the food supply, and migrations. These things are a part of living on Earth today and they occurred in previous historical cycles too.

One thing that's different about living with Earth changes now is consciousness. There is an awakening under way across the planet. People are moving out of fear-based approaches that often involved superstition and blame. When there was a drought, for example, the native people may have blamed someone for it or they may have felt the drought came as punishment for wrongdoing.

Another difference now is scientists are regularly uncovering new information about Earth cycles. As I go into more in my new book, 'Your Guide to Earth's Pivotal Years," starting in the 1950s a new research field involving ice cores has helped scientists to confirm the history of our planet. More is being learned nearly every day about what happened before and what we might expect in the future.

The latest research of fossil records - from scientists at Syracuse and Yale universities - helps us with a clearer picture of Earth's temperature about 50 million years ago when CO2 concentrations were higher than now.  Here's a link to the study:
